Whitney McEwen is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has experience working with a wide range of clients including children, teens and adults. She expertly assists clients with mental health issues including anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues and trauma. She has a special place in her heart in working with children and believes early intervention is the key to fostering resiliency.
Whitney utilizes a client centered approach, believing that every person should be treated with dignity and respect regarding their values and beliefs. By working side by side with her clients she creates a genuine, non-judgmental atmosphere that allows her clients to customize and make strides in their own mental health treatment.
Her professional background includes being a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and she has training in non-directive play therapy. For the past three and a half years, she has worked in Crisis Services at Tarrant County MHMR. She worked multiple roles including training employees and supervising staff with more difficult caseloads. Many of the clients she worked with were struggling with severe depression, anxiety, psychosis, and substance abuse issues.
Whitney completed her internship at Denton County Children’s Advocacy Center, where she utilized Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior therapy approach to help children suffering from trauma.
Whitney lives in Wise County with her husband, daughter and two lovable dogs. Whitney enjoys watching Netflix, reading and playing video games in her spare time.
