Family therapy helps families improve communication and resolve conflicts. Various family structures may benefit from family therapy, such as parent(s) and child/children, blended families, and extended families (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins). Types of issues that are commonly addressed in family therapy include child behavior or school problems, teen problems, family conflict, mental illness or substance abuse in a family member, trauma, and unexpected changes.
