Lauren Mendoza is a Marriage & Family Therapy Intern, working under the supervision of Sharon Leal, LPC-S. Lauren works with children ages 11 & up, teens, and adults.
Lauren enjoys helping clients meet challenges associated with anxiety, depression, negative thinking patterns, low self-esteem, behavior concerns, women’s issues, and trauma. She has also worked with survivors of domestic violence at Safe Haven of Tarrant County. Lauren was an elementary school teacher prior to beginning her journey in the counseling field. The experience she gained from working with children, teens, and parents in education has been invaluable.
Lauren believes in a client-centered approach to counseling primarily utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She believes that addressing thoughts and feelings ultimately leads to changes in behavior. Lauren encourages parent involvement when working with teens and children to help facilitate a path to healing.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and son, and baking.
